Cornell gave me two things: an incredible education, including the tools and love of research to write "Indecent," and an enthusiasm for smaller towns — hence my move to Wellfleet, population 3,000.
I have a love of New York but also a love for seeing seals, hawks, foxes and fresh air. And so I come into the city with great anticipation, do my work with joy and intensity, and then drive home to clear my mind.
I hope that people remember and enjoy my plays, in whatever town they are produced, and that my work makes Broadway a more conducive place for women writers and new plays.
